Super 8 by Wyndham Sturtevant/Racine

At 3:07 AM, someone opened our door. The top latch, which my wife had put on because she’s a paranoid freak, stopped whoever it was from coming in. I checked the hallway afterward and nobody was there. That was the last straw after several room problems. The first room was already open at 4 pm, so I didn’t even need my key. The beds were messed up and there was garbage on the floor. After I reported it, they moved us to a second room that smelled horrible, with busted, slanted windows that wouldn’t lock. I was worried someone could tilt them open from the road floor and rob or kill me. The third room needed us to shoulder the door open, had mold on every ceiling, and the TV didn’t work. I asked to cancel and leave, but nearby hotels only had $300 kings, while this place offered 30% off. We stayed and hoped for the best because my daughter’s soccer game was in the morning and we were out of state. I’m so pissed off. You’d be better off sleeping in your car at the nearby truck stop. The worst stay ever, and I’ve stayed on the south side of Chicago.

We found another German Cockroach in a drawer in the deluxe rooom after switching rooms. The first room seemed a little dated, but we figured we’d gotten a deal. Later that night we saw a "German Cockroach," and my wife got sick after the stay. The replacement room smelled like a 90s ashtray. We asked for a refund, but only got one for the second stay, not the first night. The people were really nice, but I’m sorry, you have an infestation that can make people very sick and put their health at risk.

I’m a diamond member, but this hotel still made a problem of my expired identification card, even though it matches my credit card and I had other forms of identification. I’ve used the same ID at Wyndham hotels all over America. I had to cancel my rooms and lose my points, and we all know Wyndham doesn’t refund points.

We took the pillowcases off when checking out and found that the pillows we’d slept on were riddled with black mold. I took pictures of everything. The room was damp and mildewy, with mold in the drawers and bathtub, on the doors and lamps, behind the beds, and on the outside of the bathroom wall. Even the fridge smelled horrible, and there were cockroaches. We told the front desk and corporate several times, but they did nothing and refused to move us. There were constant door slams day and night from the same guests, plus stomping from the floor above. Staff didn’t seem concerned with fixing anything. Instead, they said we couldn’t rent a room there anymore, as if we’d caused the problems. The reviews describe the same issues: bad smells, cockroaches, mold and mildew, a sorry bag breakfast, and rude staff. So
