Gena's Sierra Inn & Restaurant

The staff were hospitable, and we enjoyed the food, which was good and fairly priced. We stayed two nights and had a generally good experience, but there were a couple of serious problems. Both nights, rodents scratching in the walls woke us up. Also, our coffee maker had tons of mold in it. It looked like it had never been cleaned. I'm glad I checked before making coffee, because I could have gotten very sick.

The location was somewhat close to the two nearby parks, which was the one advantage. But for nearly $100, I expected better than what felt like a run-down hotel in a much poorer country. There was no indoor fridge, and using the kitchen and fridge cost an extra $10. We were also told to take out our own trash. The biggest issue was the shower: after following the outdoor bathroom sign and waiting 2-3 minutes for hot water, it only came out briefly before turning cold. We waited about 15 minutes, but couldn't shower because this basic amenity wasn't available.

We stayed in one of the cabins, and I knew the shower building was communal. It has an outdoor feel that adds to the experience, and each stall is private, clean, and has hot water. A little tiny lizard even visited while I showered. The wait staff were nice and the food was good. Excellent in everything, though if you're not comfortable with that kind of shower setup, look elsewhere.

The restaurant is amazing, and Lisa, the cook, is phenomenal 🙌! Such a cozy, down-home spot tucked in paradise. The rooms are super affordable, and the staff have always been the best. You really must stop and experience the beauty of this place!!
