Clarion Pointe Sulphur Springs

The check-in and lobby were clean and professional, but the room was a letdown after the pictures, reviews, and price had set my expectations high. The shower looked nasty, had barely any pressure, and some parts seemed broken. I also found a condom behind a bed leg, which made me question how well the room had been cleaned. The bed itself wasn't too bad, but turning on the heat made it smell. I didn't report any of it, though maybe I should have. I stayed one night over the weekend and paid $102. For that kind of experience, I'd expect to pay $50 at a cheap motel, and it left me not wanting to return.

My 18 wheeler broke down, and I needed somewhere to stay fast. This worked out well, with clean, well-appointed rooms and a terrific location. Lenny and Patsy, along with most of the staff, were fantastic. Lenny, you're doing a great job managing the hotel! I was stuck there the whole time because of the ice and had to walk everywhere, so I couldn't get to any of the nearby businesses. Otherwise, there would have been plenty of places to go.

We came for two nights to see family nearby. It was my first time at a Clarion Pointe, and I wasn't disappointed. We normally stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites, but it had no rooms because of local events. This place was on par with it. The room was nice, though the king room had a kiddie commode; at least there was a grab bar. The property was clean and breakfast was good. I'd stay at a Pointe again.

The check-in was easy and the staff were kind. Our room was already cool when we arrived, so we didn't have to wait for the AC to bring the temperature down. It had a microwave, mini-frige, coffee maker, plenty of towels, and lights that were easy to locate and switch on or off. Cleanliness clearly gets a lot of attention. We didn't use the pool, but it looked very clean. Breakfast had a lot to choose from, including eggs, sausage patties, potatoes with chorizo, biscuits and gravy, bagels and pastries, huge Texas-shaped waffles, juices, cereal, oatmeal, and really good coffee. We checked out easily and got back on the road for our trip.
