SureStay by Best Western Summerville Flowertown

The staff were kind and helpful, and there are good places to eat nearby. The building feels old, with peeling paint, chipped furniture, and stains in places. I also found two live cockroaches.

I woke in the night when the A/C quit. Turning on the lights, I saw a roach on the nightstand and killed it. When I moved the nightstand, there was mold and mildew on both sides of the bed, and water stains on the box spring sheets. I spent the rest of the night barely sleeping, then woke up sick after breathing all that in. The hotel wouldn't refund me when I contacted them, just offered 10% off. I wouldn't stay here unless roaches, mold, and mildew don't bother you.

The room wasn't too bad, except for an odor and some green stuff along the side of the bed. Management was rude when handling the issue, and needs to learn how to speak to customers during an escalation. I can't recommend it.

I ended up staying five days at Sure Stay in my own hometown while plumbing at home was being fixed. Everyone, from the manager and desk clerks to housekeeping, was friendly and helpful, and they were sympathetic about what I was dealing with at home. That made me feel they cared. My room was clean and stocked, and the free breakfast was delicious. My housekeeper even used a Spanish/English translation app on her phone so we could communicate. It's a very nice mid-priced hotel, and the stay was a positive experience.
