Sam was a real highlight. She even offered us a ride to the Picketpost trailhead on our first stay, and she’s a wonderful person. My dad and I came to hike two sections of the Arizona trail, and we both liked the clean room and comfortable bed. Hikers on the Arizona Trail should consider staying here. If we return to Superior, we’d stay again.

I spent about a year and a half at Copper Mountain Motel while working in the area, and it was a great experience. The rooms are simple, clean, comfortable, and have wifi. Right outside, you get a lovely view of the cliffs of Apache Leap Tuff above Superior. It’s an old-fashioned motor hotel on a classic travel route, and the town’s amenities are just a short walk or drive away.

The bathroom shower stayed lukewarm even after I let it run for 15 minutes, though the sink had hot water. The room was much more worn than the photos on Google and the website suggested, with battered furniture and spotty, unfinished paint. Being close to Phoenix didn’t make up for it, and I regretted staying here. I travel often, and this hotel was below par. I’d suggest staying on the outskirts of Phoenix instead.

We felt rested and welcome in the morning, and ended up chatting with the owner and staff for another half hour after checkout time. We’d taken our time getting ready to leave, but nobody made us feel rushed. The Copper Mountain isn’t fancy, but it was spotless and the staff were terrific. If we’re in Superior again, we’ll stay here.

A good, comfortable place to stay in Superior at a reasonable price, especially if you’re hiking. I’d definitely recommend Copper Mountain Motel to anyone passing through.
