We didn’t stay, and I was still refused a refund after telling the front desk clearly that I didn’t want the room. The room was hot and humid, with a strong rotten-egg smell that made the air unbearable and immediately raised concerns about cleanliness and safety. The pull-out couch mattress had multiple visible blood stains all over it. I took photos and will attach them, because no guest should be exposed to that. When we reported it, the staff member said they wouldn’t replace the mattress. He said he might be able to move us to another room, but only after calling his boss. There was no urgency or taking responsibility for such a serious health concern. Refusing to replace a blood-stained mattress and refusing a refund in these circumstances is unacceptable. This was by far my most disgusting and unacceptable hotel experience. The place is dirty, poorly managed, and doesn’t care about guest safety or hygiene. Don’t stay here, save your money and your health. I’ll report the hotel to the city for health and sanitation violations.
The owners were really great, and everything impressed me. The rooms were super clean, and I’m extremely happy with my stay. I’d choose this place a hundred times before the Hilton or any of the other motels on the same road.
I wouldn’t recommend this place, and after this there’s no reason for me to stay again. It was convenient for the route I was running, so I stayed for a second night in a row. The first morning, I’d taken breakfast to go. On the second morning, the older woman working the counter was cleaning it and sighed loudly. I said, “At least it’s Friday.” She replied that it was irritating because they intended for people to eat breakfast there, not take it along. I raised my eyebrow and said, “Oh?” She explained that people taking food for lunch and dinner later was irritating, rather than eating there. I didn’t say anything else. Later, while helping another guest, she loudly complained again about people taking breakfast to go, even though it was the same serving size I’d have eaten there in the time allowed. As I left, I wished her a great day. She glared and said something inhospitable as I walked out. I let the company know too, so no other employees will support the business in the future. My previous review had been deleted because of an employee’s attitude.
The room was clean, and the breakfast was great. You can make your own waffle, and there’s a selection of fruit or muffins for a quick breakfast on the go. I was in the accessible room near the wheelchair ramp, and the shower had a seat that folds down for bathing while seated. Everyone I met was a pleasure. The bed was very firm, though, which isn’t my preference. I judge by how well I sleep, so that’s why I rated it this way. Still, it was a positive stay aside from the bed.
I’m a rewards member and hadn’t had a bad experience before checking into Sweetwater Econo lodge at 500 NW Georgia ave yesterday. I was in room #107. The front desk woman’s name appeared as LMShumw on my receipt. She was yelling from the other side of the window instead of speaking directly to me, and I couldn’t understand her. She was rude and unprofessional, though she kept apologizing and said, “I’m sorry my grandbaby is in the hospital.” I understood why she might be upset, but she shouldn’t have been working that day. If I see her there again, I won’t stay while she’s on duty. I hope her grandbaby is okay, but she should take some personal time because it affects her work and how she treats customers. This was a bad experience, and it’s the first I’ve had as a member.
