Oak Park Motel

I was trying to help a family and their daughter afford a room so they wouldn't have to sleep on the street. The man who answered was extremely rude. He asked when I'd arrive to pay; I explained I was in another town and needed to pay by phone for the family. He said he wouldn't accept phone payment and hung up. I wouldn't recommend this place. If I could, I'd give his behavior negative stars.

We were in a pinch, and this place got the job done. It wasn't perfect, but we'd stay again in a similar situation. The staff were courteous, the price was right, and the bed was fine. The TV and A/C both worked great, and parking felt safe. We could bring our dog for a reasonable nightly fee.

I usually don't write reviews because it feels like a waste of time, and bad ones can just come from someone having a bad day. But believe what people say about this place. I flew into the municipal airport in my own plane and struggled to find a ride. Every other hotel and bed and breakfast in town was booked. The owner/manager had the personality of a bent paper clip. The room was stifling when I arrived, with dead bugs and flies on most flat surfaces. I lay down fully dressed and didn't pull back the covers. Then I woke up and saw a bedbug racing across the lipstick-stained pillow. I caught the little thing and flushed it, along with three others, down the toilet. At least the toilet worked. The TV, refrigerator, and microwave didn't. There was hair and stains in the bathroom. It's easier to list what was okay than what wasn't: nothing was. I've seen nicer puppy mill facilities. And to the owner, your personal standards are no higher than those of the people you cater to. Enough said. The photo is from the next day. The owner should be criminally charged.

The sheets were stained, the sink wouldn't drain, and the chair seemed unsafe. There were no light bulbs in the lamps. They were rude and refused my ESA dog. When we said our key wasn't working, he took it and told us not to go anywhere. I don't recommend this place.
