I booked the OYO Hotel in Tallahassee on June 22 at the last minute, since it was the only option available that late. After driving cross-country from Arizona, I only needed a few hours of rest, but regretted checking in right away. The property was badly run down, and I saw what appeared to be prostitution, with couples openly having sex behind doors left ajar. Reception didn't help me find my room. Once inside, I found roaches, cigarette burns on the sheets, an old smell, and a room that felt like it was falling apart. I went straight back to ask for a refund. The clerk said only the manager could issue it in the morning, so I slept in my vehicle. The next day I called and was directed to request a refund online. Since then, the online service has told me to call the hotel, and the hotel has sent me back to the online service. I've tried to reach management, but have been told they're on vacation or can't come to the phone. It's been months with no resolution. I'm asking for a full refund and a response from management. Until they deal with safety, cleanliness, and accountability, I can't recommend staying here.

The manager or staff member was very welcoming and checked in after we reached our room to make sure we had what we needed. The room was clean and tidy, with nice decor, though it could use furniture updates and some repairs. The bathroom handle was broken and the door wouldn't lock or latch properly. My teenagers found the beds perfectly comfortable; I'd call them moderately comfortable. I didn't sleep as well because they set the AC too cold and I missed my husband, lol. The main entrance sits in an odd spot on an intersection along a main road, but there's a rear exit onto a residential street that feels safer. The price was affordable, especially during FSU move-in weekend, and we'd stay again.

Room 221 had no hot water, dirty towels, and questionable sheets. The paint was peeling, and the place needs a full remodel. I couldn't connect to Wi-Fi because there was no signal, and there was no TV remote, just one for the Xfinity box. The exterior lighting was nonexistent, so it didn't feel very safe. There were a lot of questionable people in cars, drinking, smoking cigarettes, or whatever.

I had to look hard for anything positive: the towels were soft, and I didn’t spot any bugs. The place itself felt like a dump and cost way too much. The water pressure was so weak it felt like standing in a mist beneath a rain spout. Honestly, why can’t we give zero stars?

The rooms kept stretching into the thousands, all blending into the same solid brown. I ran through those twisting halls, begging and pounding on the walls, while the lights stayed on and my hunger never stopped. Something was following me. I could feel it watching, always getting closer, no matter how fast I went. When I finally looked up from the floor, broken and waiting to die, I saw him peeking around a corner. As he came nearer, everything slowed. I couldn’t explain what I saw, but it felt like God. Its beauty filled my vision, and at last I felt peace and let go. This all began with a family funeral booking. For the price, the hotel seemed like a decent choice. The rooms smelled musty, though most hotel rooms I’ve been in do. The bathroom was pretty clean, the room service and amenities were nice, and breakfast at the bar was outstanding. My first night went smoothly. After a hard day with extended family, I couldn’t get to sleep, so I went to get some water. The next morning, room service wouldn’t answer because the phone lines were dead. When I stepped out, the hallways looked unfamiliar, though I thought I was imagining it. I wandered and wandered, seeing nothing but more rooms and never finding the entrance. The walls seemed to shift at the edge of my sight. It felt like days of walking, but I never got hungry or thirsty. 5/5 stars.
