Red Roof Inn Tallahassee - University

On my trip to New Orleans and then back to Miami before heading home to Italy, I stayed four nights in two different rooms. Red Roof in Tallahassee was a real treat for a budget hotel, and the rooms and bathrooms were spotless when I checked them, A+ cleanliness. The manager, whom I named 'QUEEN TESSA ', was incredible. She manages the hotel and cleans rooms too. Her male colleague was also very service oriented. RED Roof is a well kept secret for affordable overnight stays, and they’re lucky to have her. The bed and sheets were clean, thank goodness, since I only needed somewhere to sleep for the night. The room itself wasn’t clean: the floor was sticky and turned my feet black, there was mold and mildew around the shower, and the couch was filthy with what looked like old spilled food. There’s no rubber seal around the door, so light showed all around its edges. It is right off I-10, with an awesome farm-to-table place next door.

DO NOT STAY HERE! The only good thing is the Cracker Barrel next door. The front desk was little to no help. When I asked where I could get beer and food, the answer was “Wendy’s.” I chuckled and said they don’t sell beer there. He told me to “look on road.” They came across as rude and unwilling from the start. Once I got into the room and settled my dogs, I found that none of the plugs worked except the two in the bathroom. When I told the desk, it was obvious keeping customers wasn’t a priority. All night, a rather large person stood outside smoking black and milds and screaming into the sky like he was going to war. Very odd. The owners should find another kind of business, because they can’t run a respectable hotel.

I haven’t checked out yet and was hoping to get a few more hours of sleep. The night staff were pleasant, and the room was clean apart from some hair in the tub. There’s no microwave or mini fridge. The smoke alarm was chirping when I checked in. Staff said to press the button to reset it, and they did that when I asked. Then it woke me again at 4:44 a.m. I pressed the button myself, but couldn’t get back to sleep. It’s unacceptable for guests to lose sleep because of the hotel’s negligence.
