Tru by Hilton Tallahassee Central

This was our second time staying here in Tallahassee, and we’d come back. The hotel was friendly and clean, with a nice lobby, pool table, and a handy area to buy snacks. We had a hearing-impaired, accessible room. The shower was nicely equipped for handicapped use. I’m hearing impaired myself, but hadn’t stayed in a room like this before. The only feature I noticed for hearing impairment was a very loud buzzing doorbell. The continental breakfast looked nice, but a busload of young teenagers in the lobby meant we couldn’t get to it. The lobby seating was odd for us older people, just one huge long couch with lots of pillows.

We were in Tallahassee for our school’s field trip, and the hotel worked out wonderfully. The location was perfect, just a short drive from FAMU’s campus. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and well kept, and the students really enjoyed the breakfast each morning. The team was welcoming and efficient from check-in through check-out. The manager, whose name I unfortunately forgot, made sure our group had what we needed and that the students had a blast. She even made a major accommodation for us, which I really appreciated. We’ll stay here again on future visits. Highly recommend!

Another fantastic stay at Tru, as always. This time my son left his beloved stuffed animal in the room by accident, and the staff kindly mailed it all the way to our home across the state. We’re so grateful. Thank you, Tru staff! 😍😍😍

The staff I spoke with were helpful and knew their stuff, and check-in took under three minutes. The elevators were clean and quick, and the lobby has lots of seating. This older hotel has had a recent renovation, which seems well done. My room was neat, clean, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was nice, the shower water was very hot, and there were no gross backups in the sink, toilet, or shower. But the two-queen room was so cramped that getting between the first bed and the air conditioner meant sidestepping. For over $150 a night, I expected in-room coffee, drawers, a usable lamp switch, basic instructions for the phone and fire escape, and even a notepad and pen. None were there. There was no microwave either, which really surprised me. The mini fridge was a tiny cube sitting on the floor, awkward to reach, barely held anything, and only got cool rather than cold. There was no way to adjust it. Some people mentioned cars being broken into. That isn’t the hotel’s fault, it’s like any other business parking lot. I blame the city of Tallahassee. I’d give the hotel three stars, but Hilton should make the fridge bigger and put a microwave in every room.
