We went to check out at 8:30 in the morning, but the office was still closed. There was no drop box or other way to return the key cards, so we had to sit in the car and wait until someone opened up to avoid being charged. That was one more frustration after a horrible one-night stay. The beds were awful, the hot water ran out quickly, and the tub filled to ankle height even with the drain plug up. We only got two or three TV channels, showing the same thing throughout our stay. The rooms were nasty too. Smoke and pot odors came from the rooms into the hallways and ours all night. There are stoves in the rooms, and someone before us seemed to have cooked fried chicken or something, so food smells lingered in the hall. We went to the store for Lysol and sprayed everything we touched. They tell you not to smoke in the rooms, but clearly that rule isn’t enforced. From the elevators through the halls and into the room, all we could smell was smoke and pot. I can’t imagine all extended stay hotels are like this. Don’t stay here if you want to avoid the same experience.

The room was clean during my one-night stay, so that wasn’t the problem. But if you leave something behind, it seems you won’t get it back unless you return in person. I left my AirPods under the sheets in the bed. I went back not long after checkout, but the office was supposed to be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and nobody was there until after 1. Since I had checked out, I couldn’t get into the room myself. Later, I called the front desk and asked if someone could retrieve them. The associate found them. Since I don’t live in Tallahassee, I asked how they could be returned. She said I could send a prepaid shipping label and they’d package them up and mail them. I paid UPS $17 to send the package. On December 2, I spoke with the hotel manager, Judy (or Julie). She said she couldn’t find my AirPods and suggested temporary workers may have taken them. I asked whether she had checked the cameras, but she said they didn’t cover the back office work area. She told me she had filed a claim with Extended StayAmerica and its insurance company to reimburse me. I have no record of that, she couldn’t provide a receipt, and said it was out of her hands and with corporate now. I contacted corporate on December 4 and couldn’t reach anyone by phone. I wanted to share what happened. Please be careful about staying here for an extended period.

The hotel can never keep a full staff, and the people working today were rude and highly unprofessional, all the way up to Ms. Judy. I’m nine months pregnant, and hearing a staff member say her safety came before mine was insane. The stunt Judy and her staff pulled today was completely unacceptable. They can’t seem to fix things, and they always have an attitude when you ask for something like toiletries. I wouldn’t recommend this place to a dog. Then Judy had the nerve to ask for ratings. Zero stars, thumbs down. I’ll be calling corporate to report her and the staff. This is a very low-down, degraded hotel.

I’ve put this on my list of bad hotels. The room smelled musty, and the furniture looked old and tired. The toilet clogged on the first try, so they gave me a plunger. Room service cost extra, so we didn’t use it. There were ants in the bathroom, and the stay was disappointing. The only plus was that the breakfast muffins and coffee were free. The $80 room also required a $100 deposit. People smoked throughout the hotel, including pot. The beds were hard, the hot water was only cool to warm, and the tub drain backed up until my feet were in soapy water. If you need to leave before 9 a.m., there’s no key card drop box. I thought about leaving the card, but figured I’d be charged.

My son came to Tallahassee for a wake and funeral, but the delay at check-in meant he missed the wake. His reservation at Extended Stay Tallahassee East began on January 29, 2026. I had completed the online Authorization Form two days before he arrived, but the receptionist said she couldn’t check him in until Judy, the GM, authorized it. Judy was unavailable for two hours, and my son missed the wake while waiting. That added to an already painful situation. His room wasn’t clean, and the TV didn’t work. The reservation was meant to run through February 15, but he checked out on January 31 before the funeral services. The hotel overcharged him and only gave a partial refund. I spoke with several Customer Relations Supervisors, who apologized and said they’d arrange a full refund in 24 to 48 hours. It’s now been 15 days, and I still haven’t received it. Completely unacceptable.
