Comfort Inn & Suites Tampa North I-75

The staff were genuinely lovely, and I can see the place being much better once the renovations have had time to settle in. But the lack of care right now is hard to overlook, especially if you’re traveling with kids. I wouldn’t risk bringing home a roach or getting sick here. Maybe one night is a risk someone might take, but I’d strongly suggest finding somewhere else, particularly with children. This trip has been exhausting, and I don’t want anyone else wasting their time or money. The biggest concern was the curtains. They’d been left up during renovations and were layered with dust, paint, and debris. My child played peekaboo behind one and came away coated in it, with their eyelashes turning white. The dust got in their eyes and nose. This was far beyond a little dust, and I can’t understand why workers would leave curtains that way or why the rooms weren’t checked before guests were allowed in. After I changed rooms, the new one still had dusty curtains, so I had to keep my kids away from the window until someone cleaned the other room. On my last night, I spotted a German roach moving on the wall around midnight. The basic cleaning was poor, too. The gym and laundry room were filthy, and the rooms seemed to get only a surface clean. In the first room, trash under the bed was still there after it was supposedly recleaned, the surfaces hadn’t been wiped, the floor was dirty, there was a smell that wouldn’t go away, and the walls had splatters. The next morning, in the room they said had been deep cleaned, the bottom of the trash can was still covered in filth. I called to report what had been missed and asked for another deep clean with someone to check it afterward. I wasn’t asking for a discount or a comp. Since they’d just bought the place, I thought they’d want to know their staff were neglecting it. Instead, the receptionist was rude and nasty, as though these were trivial complaints. Everything looked fairly nice at first, or like it was on its way there, and a lot is being renovated or replaced. I believe the helpful staff and the property could be very different with more time, but the oversight right now is poor.

The location is handy, with plenty of good food options nearby, and I’d stay here again. We booked two different rooms and both were really nice, clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Comfort Inn & Suites is still renovating, but the finished updates already look great and seem to be getting a lot of care. If it’s this nice in the middle of the work, I’m excited to see how it looks when everything’s done.

Asked in the morning for a bath towel because there were hardly any in the room. First I was told they didn’t have one, which made no sense with rooms being turned over that morning. Then he said he’d send housekeeping, apparently just to get me off the phone. The towel never showed up. Unbelievably lazy.

The service was okay, but this hotel is run-down, dirty, smelly, and uncomfortable. It also feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere. Spend the extra $25-$35 and stay somewhere better.
