La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Tampa Near Busch Gardens

We walked over to Busch Gardens from the hotel, so we didn’t need to pay extra for parking. The location was perfect for the park, and the staff were nice. My husband had been unsure about booking after reading the bad reviews, but we had a very different experience. Our room may have been one of the renovated ones, since everything looked modern. It was quiet and dark, thanks to the double window covering. A pleasant stay.

Updated review, 2/4/2026: More than a week has passed, and I expected someone from upper management to contact us about the many problems. The hotel posted that our case was being escalated, but we still haven’t heard from anyone there. That’s very unprofessional. Since the hotel doesn’t seem interested in resolving this, we’ll pursue it through outside sources. Do not stay here. Original review: The hotel is conveniently located near Busch Gardens, but don’t book it. We reserved a suite and got two adjoining rooms, which fell far short of what a suite should be. One room had water damage throughout, and the flooring was coming apart, creating a fall hazard. On the second night, we woke to water pouring through a ceiling light fixture in the other room. There was so much that we used towels from both rooms to keep it from reaching the sleeping area. The manager moved us to the second floor, but afterward it was hard to sleep worrying there might be a fire. We tried to reach the manager the next morning and were told she wasn’t there. When we called a day later about the weekend, the hotel offered only $50 compensation. Delphine was extremely rude, told us to accept the $50 or get nothing, then hung up. I’ve never had a hotel experience like this. Beware.

We brought our two dogs, and the hotel was very pet friendly, with a grassy area at the back where we could walk them. Our recently renovated room was clean and had comfortable beds. We stayed three nights and found it a fantastic value, especially given the spot right across from Busch Gardens Tampa. The lobby has also been renovated and felt welcoming, with comfortable places to sit and fresh coffee available around the clock. Nash greeted us at the desk and answered our questions; they’re a real asset to the hotel. Deborah in the breakfast room worked hard to keep the food stocked and was so sweet. She made breakfast fun. We’ll definitely come back.

No coffee maker in the room was a bit of a surprise, even though there was a fridge and microwave. It’s not a big deal, and I’d probably stay again. The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds comfortable, and the continental breakfast was better than I expected. Staff were friendly and helpful. I didn’t visit Busch Gardens, but it’s right across the street, so the location would be great for the park. Sometimes you can even hear people scream as the rollercoasters go over a drop. Overall, a great place to stay.
