Rodeway Inn Near Ybor City - Casino

The owner is reasonable, strict but respectful, and reminds me of a friend’s dad. He’ll help if he can. I’ve been bringing my wife lately, and she’s picky about where she sleeps. I’ve stayed at this Rodeway once or twice a month for the past year. It’s close to downtown, and for that location the price is hard to beat. This isn’t the Rodeway with cockroaches and smoke-stained smells. They keep improving the rooms, with newer mattresses and TVs, quieter AC units, and new showers. I recommend it.

The staff and owners were really nice, and I appreciated how caring they were, which makes the one-star rating hard to give. But the room wasn’t up to standard, and we didn’t feel safe. It was being remodeled, with paint splattered on the floor, chips in the linoleum, black mold in the shower, and a faint stale cigarette smell. The door barely latched and had no deadbolt. It’s not the best part of town, and homeless people were wandering around the grounds.

We only needed one night as a group of five, and the place met our expectations. It was a solid four out of five for us. The customer service staff were friendly and helped with the things we were unsure about. We’d looked around for an affordable hotel near where our family planned to stay in Tampa, while meeting our uncle, aunts, and everyone else. When we arrived, some people were smoking, especially those who weren’t allowed inside the building. That didn’t bother us, since they weren’t harming the five of us, though it was unfortunate to see them hurting themselves.

The local products were a plus, and delivery was convenient. When available, the eggs and mushrooms were fresh and clearly good quality. I might order again if things become more consistent. Communication and follow-through were uneven, though. Sometimes items were out of stock with little warning, which made planning difficult. Everyone was polite, but replies could be slow and a few small details got missed. Nothing major, just enough to make the process less smooth than I expected. It’s an okay experience when everything lines up, but it hasn’t been as dependable as I’d hoped.
