My wife loved this place, and I think you will too. The staff really make an effort to help you enjoy your stay. There's so much character in the property and so many thoughtful details that it felt like a distinctive experience for both of us.

Luke and Sam were warm hosts and did their best to make the stay pleasant, and the property has an intimate boutique atmosphere in a restored Southwestern building with only a few rooms. The rooms look good and are thoughtfully designed, and the shared amenities at the sister property, including a saltwater pool and billiards, plus a shuttle around Taos, were useful. But at this room rate, the overall experience didn't match what we paid, and the property needs more attention and staff. The courtyard is appealing in principle, but it looked like it hadn't been weeded all season, and we had to wipe down the tables and chairs ourselves. The rooms also need maintenance: the portable AC vents through the main window, but the single shade sits at an awkward angle and lets in a lot of morning light. The door shades stick out too, letting sunshine in and reducing privacy. Other details felt neglected, including upside-down light switches, a toilet chain that needs careful jiggling to catch the stopper, and a screen door set crooked so it scrapes the pavers and won't open all the way. Breakfast in the communal dining room was the same limited spread each day: quiche, bagels, yogurt, granola, coffee, and juice. It was still an inviting space, but two people seemed to be managing the whole place, which may be too much for them and leaves guests shortchanged. For a stay longer than one night, housekeeping shouldn't require asking. They brought service promptly and pleasantly when we requested it, but fresh towels and empty trash should be expected without having to seek them out.

The staff were fantastic, and the rooms were spacious and clean in a really impressive facility. It was easy to get to the art area, and Taos Ski Valley and the surrounding spots were quick trips too. Highly recommend, and I'll be back.

We preferred staying at Palacio de La Marquesa, even though Monte Sagrado was lovely too. It's quiet and peaceful, with the adobe and tile style we like, and downtown is walkable if you feel like it or an easy drive away. Our beds were comfortable, the bathrooms lovely, and both rooms had fireplaces, air conditioning, and fans. My children had a huge suite, while we stayed in the Icon. There's also a wildflower garden. The innkeeper lives on site, texts you, and is available if you need help. Coffee, tea, and cookies are in the entry. Breakfast is served at the sister hotel, Monte Sagrado, about a 20-minute walk or two-minute drive away. It's a sit-down meal and was great. You can also use their pool, gym, and hot tub.

Breakfast was the highlight, spectacular food and a really nice conversation with the chef. The buildings are charming, and it's a quiet place in Taos that's still walkable. The room upkeep could be better: some bulbs were out, and at night there were lots of tiny crawling insects in the humid bathroom. The rooms aren't very large, so having both a standing fan and a portable floor AC takes up too much space. It was decent overall, and we may stay again.
