Motel 6 The Dalles, OR

The room itself had been cleaned, but the hallway smelled like mildew and the toilet in my room leaked. Both the morning and night staff were rude. At night, the staff member had a friend visiting, and the friend stood right next to me staring while I was trying to pay. I definitely won't stay here again.

This motel is handy if you need a reasonably priced stop along 84, with restaurants nearby and quick freeway access. But the beds were rock hard, and I struggled to fall asleep. Across the hall, some junkies were yelling loudly. After I heard a loud knock at their door, they stayed quiet for the rest of the night. I left first thing in the morning instead of waiting for checkout, and even my emotional support animal had trouble relaxing before finally falling asleep.

The stay was quiet, and the room was clean, in good shape, with comfortable beds. It looks like some remodeling has been done. The hallways haven't been updated yet, though, and they're dated and dingy. If you can get past that, it's a decent place to stay.

The front desk clerks were both kind and helpful, and I didn't spot any bugs. My sheets and towels were thin but clean. The kids said the pool was freezing. This Motel 6 is somewhere in the middle for me, neither the worst nor the best I've stayed at. Hallways, doors, floors, and bathrooms are worn and dingy. The hallways reeked of cigarette smoke, but that smell wasn't in my room. You get what you pay for, I suppose.
