Days Inn & Suites By Wyndham Thibodaux

The staff were the real highlight, especially at the front desk. Everyone was GREAT and so friendly. The hotel is right in town and clean, and I had no issues with my room apart from a couple of things, like a lamp, not working.

The king suite was comfortable, clean, and had the basics covered. The bed was especially comfortable, and the shower and bathroom were clean overall, though the shower curtain could've been cleaner. The basic soaps barely had any scent and didn't lather well. Breakfast was pretty bare bones, just cereal bars, two cold cereal choices, and coffee, but acceptable for the price. The hallway was the biggest letdown. The carpet needs regular shampooing and better care, and a lingering smell, maybe smoke or just wear, took away from the stay. If they kept the hallways fresher, the hotel could be at least two stars better. The location is excellent, right next to the Hampton, and a good way to save money while staying in the same area. For the cost and location, it does the job and offers good value. I'd stay again, since the location makes a few cut corners worthwhile. I'd rate the rooms a solid 4 out of 5.

The bed was so lumpy and uncomfortable it ruined my back for the entire weekend. My room was never serviced, even after I asked, and they refused to give me clean sheets so I could make the bed myself or provide fresh towels. Other guests told me they'd found mold on their mattresses and window sills. The lobby always smelled of mildew and bleach, and the rooms weren't much better. When someone was actually at the front desk and able to help, they were still unhelpful. Employees gave conflicting instructions and seemed to dislike their work, as if they wanted to make people's stays miserable. On the day our tournament ended, when over half the hotel had been blocked for it and everyone was checking out, the manager took the day off. I heard he'd promised refunds to people who booked through Expedia so they wouldn't cancel through the website, then refused to answer calls and had his employee deny everyone the refunds he'd promised. I can't see why anyone would want to deal with this place.

Michelle made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived at the Days Inn in Thibodaux. She checked me in quickly, greeted me with a warm smile, and was kind, attentive, and professional every time I went by the desk. She clearly takes pride in her work and cares about guests. My room was cozy, clean, and quiet, just what I needed after a long drive. This was one of my most pleasant hotel stays in a while. I'd recommend this Days Inn if you're visiting Thibodaux, and be sure to say hi to Michelle.
