SureStay Hotel by Best Western Thomson

We were in the area for a hiking weekend at Mississippi Palisades and would definitely stay here again if we're nearby. The hotel sits by itself off 84 outside town, and my room was quiet. I assume you'd want to stay away from the bar if you want quiet. The room was clean and comfortable. I ordered a pizza from the bar to bring upstairs, and it was very good. While I waited, I had a Long Island iced tea for about $6-7. It was huge, maybe 20-24 ounces, and not watered down. I was fairly buzzed, lol. If I lived nearby and the drinks are always like that, I'd be here drinking all the time.

We've stayed here twice over the years, and having a bar available is something we love. The staff are always polite, and the rooms are always clean. Worth staying.

We came back less than a year later because there isn't much choice. The hotel in Savannah may be bigger, but its breakfast is just as pathetic and costs a lot more. This time breakfast was even worse: orange and apple juice were put out on Saturday, and by Sunday it was clear nothing else had been set out. It was all still from the day before. The room was mostly fine, but the lamp and the outlet in the lamp by one side of the bed didn't work. The shower floor creaked badly under me. I'm not a thin guy, and it made me feel like I might fall through into the room below. On our first stay, the building and rooms were clean and the experience was very pleasant. Breakfast was all carbs and not worth bothering with.

We stayed three nights, and the staff were friendly. It was new to me that the front desk person also tended the bar, but all the staff managed both jobs well. The rooms were clean and spacious, though there were stains on the carpet, so bring socks or flip-flops. Breakfast was continental and mostly carbs. The walls were thin: you could hear everything, especially from the hallway and bar late at night. The A/C and heat unit worked great.
