The bed was ready when we arrived, and the little porch had a nice spot to sit. Inside, the cabin was new and clean, with a bathroom, towels, and dispensers for body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. The kitchen was stocked efficiently with the basics. We only stayed one night in the one-room cabin, and the easy check-in was a good first VRBO experience. We were there in early March. The only thing we wished for was a small freezer compartment in the refrigerator so we could refreeze our cooler packs for the next day. Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

We didn’t feel safe enough to stay the night or leave our trailer and dogs there while we went to the Tampa RV show. The open gate seemed to let anyone come and go. We’d written several RV books, including RVs and Campers for Dummies, and have stayed in plenty of parks. This one looked more like a deserted storage lot than a campground, with broken-down RVs and junk around them, plus what looked like shacks in several spaces. I couldn’t tell if anyone lived in them or if they were filled with more trash. I saw two pit bulls and a Rotti being walked while we were there, which made me uneasy with my small dogs. The RV area was in the back, and the check-in guy seemed to have only a small cubicle with a glass door for an office. I didn’t see a store, and I didn’t check out the clubhouse or laundry facilities. The KOA-style cabins near the entrance, along with a sign advertising “starter homes” for $59,000, made the place feel like a strange log cabin Levittown. The advertising photos of happy families didn’t match how run down it seemed. I can’t understand how it got 4 out of 5 on Google. We’ve stayed in crummy parks to save money before and knew what we were getting, but this cost us a lot in money, time, and hassle. We’d never left a park like that before, but we pulled out of the miserable, tiny back-in space and drove away. We didn’t even ask for a refund, though maybe we should have. We were just glad to get out. I later read more reviews and saw many reports of crime and people feeling unsafe, so my gut feeling seemed right. It also seemed to me they were phasing out the campground and getting out of the RV business, but not quickly enough. The good reviews I saw were for cabin rentals by people visiting for things like football games or Busch Gardens. This wasn’t camping. We managed to get a spot at Quail Run RV Park despite the RV show, though it was another twenty minutes from the fairgrounds. The spaces there were often cramped, with lots of gravel and concrete, but it was clean, well run, had excellent facilities, and most of all felt safe.

The cabin, number 106, was spotless, nicely furnished, and a great value. We found the staff very friendly and helpful, and the resort was quiet, felt safe, and was conveniently located. It really felt like a home away from home. Absolutely a five-star stay, and I’d recommend it over nearby hotels.

We stayed in a cabin for a Bucs game, and the stadium was only about 20-25 minutes away, which worked perfectly. Check-in was easy to do on our own, and the communication was excellent. The cabin was very clean and had what we needed, from glasses, dishes, and coffee to towels and shampoo and conditioner. We also slept well, the bed and pillows were great. I’d happily recommend it and stay again when I’m in the area.

The campground seemed to be getting a face-lift, with work underway and things looking new while still keeping a rustic feel among the big trees. We had a fabulous stay and would definitely come back. We booked directly with the campground after reading about issues with vbro. Check-in was simple: they texted us and we handled it on our phone. The keypad needed resetting, but they answered right away and fixed it in a minute. The cabin had basic amenities, clean sheets, towels, soap, and shampoo, and the sofa pulled out. It was nice that they picked up the trash right from the street. There was also a grill and picnic table right outside our door.
