Huddy House Bed & Breakfast

We had a delicious breakfast at the Mathis House the next morning, and Vicki clearly puts a lot of care into making sure everything is just right. The Huddy House is gorgeous, spotless, and in a perfect Toms River location. There was plenty of room for all nine of us, and the attention to detail is unmatched. Eight friends and I spent Girls' Night there last Friday and had the time of our lives. Downtown Toms River has lots of food delivery options, and we brought our own drinks to put on the adorable bar set up in the dining room. Two of the girls own cleaning businesses and they both said how clean it was. I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

It's a very pleasant stay. The Huddy House is an old Victorian with four individually furnished bedrooms, and it's the new sister property to the Mathis House down the street. I stayed in the second largest room, which was spacious and comfortable, and the bed gave me a solid night's sleep. A couple of things to know: although it calls itself a B&B, hot breakfast is served at the Mathis House. There are two shared bathrooms for the four bedrooms, one with a shower and the other with a tub, so plan accordingly.

We felt right at home at Huddy House. The renovated Victorian is gorgeous, with beautiful decor and lots of attention to detail. Everything was spotless and comfortable. My wife, child, and I really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

The house and rooms are beautiful, and the host was welcoming, but there were several things we hadn't realized before booking. Four rooms share two bathrooms, and only one has a shower. Breakfast is served only once, at 9am, down the street at the other place, so everyone may be trying to get ready at the same time. The toilet in one bathroom wasn't working during our visit, and we had to wait for a repair. The door to our room also kept sticking so badly that I had to wake my husband to open it when I needed the bathroom. Even he struggled and thought about taking the doorknob off. We had to call to get that fixed too. We were visiting my husband's older children, but didn't know that after a certain hour we had to be especially quiet to avoid disturbing other guests. Having them visit us there was awkward and less fun. If we'd known about the shared bathrooms, the single breakfast time down the street, and the guest and quiet rules, we would've booked somewhere else. It was beautiful, just not what we expected, and we should have paid more attention to the fine print. I also left my stuffed animal behind. We called to ask if it could be mailed back, but never received it. We'll use VRBO on our next visit.
