The Bungalows #5

Robin, the manager, was delightful and had great tips on places to eat. Our studio/efficiency was immaculate and comfortable, and the pool was just the right temperature. We only had two nights here and wished we could have stayed longer. The time went way too fast, and we hope to return one day.

It’s nicely decorated, and the pool was warm, but it could have been cleaner. That’s about where the positives end for me. The room smelled really strange when we walked in, kind of like fish. The bed was listed as a queen but was actually full-size, there were only two towels for three people for two nights, and the shower was so dirty I wore flip-flops. It was also so small my 6'4" husband barely fit. The couch was uncomfortable, and the room could use a fresh coat of paint. There was no staff around, and it felt way overpriced, especially for winter. John’s Pass and the restaurants are a short walk away, which was the only good thing about the stay. We won’t be back and will probably leave early.

The room itself was nice, but management was absolutely horrible. We booked through Expedia thinking it was on the beach. It’s directly across from it, so you do have to walk over. When we asked to cancel, the way management spoke to my husband was outrageously rude. There were also two roaches in our room, though both were dead. We never got a check-in email, either, and that delayed getting into our room. Make sure you receive those instructions.

The location made getting around easy. We walked to Crabby’s the first evening, crossed the bridge to John’s Pass one day, and reached the beach using a pedestrian-lit crosswalk a block from The Bungalows. After the kids were in bed, I felt safe taking our dog out by myself at night. We stayed in the pet-friendly two-bedroom, one-bath apartment at the far end of the cute courtyard. Foliage separated the private seating areas, and my four- and six-year-old enjoyed playing with the pea gravel and sidewalk chalk. The pool is fenced in, only about 15 seconds down the walkway, which felt reassuring from a mom’s perspective. There were even leftover pool and beach toys in a storage box on the deck. Robin, the property manager, was very sweet and offered great recommendations. All the staff were wonderful with my wild kids. We loved staying here and would definitely come back.
