Treasure Island Hotel and Marina

The beach is huge, and I even drove about 30 minutes south one day to visit ft de Soto county park, which also has a huge beach. I had a great solo work getaway here. The park and beach are right across the street, so I could see the ocean clearly, and the park meant there weren’t tall motels blocking the view. There’s a tiny, cute coffee and donut place next door and a waffle shop nearby, plus Publix is four blocks away. The small kitchenette worked for me, though it only had a microwave. I could bring my little dog, and the price was quite affordable. Highly recommend.

I was staying nearby for a few weeks while work was being done on my condo, and the price and reviews convinced me to give this place a try. Manager Danielle looked after me and made the stay a good one. It’s a nice place for the money, with everything within walking distance. The staff were great.

I booked this for my wife’s birthday because the photos looked lovely, but the stay was awful, including the service. The hallway outside our room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. We checked the balcony view, then found that the sliding door wouldn’t lock. Paint was peeling around the A/C, and the room phone didn’t work when I tried to call the desk about it. I went down and spoke with Devin. When I explained what was wrong and asked to switch rooms, she told me to call booking.com for a refund. I asked for a manager and was told none was available. I felt completely out of place, and the customer service was terrible. The hotel seemed very poorly managed. I’d give it zero stars if I could. Stay somewhere else.

The location is excellent, and the staff were very accommodating. The room itself could use some investment, especially in the lighting: there’s just an overhead light by the entry and one lamp in the sleeping area, so it feels rather dark. The bathroom is small, and there may not be much they can do about that. Larger guests could find it tight. The tub looks original, and replacing it with a walk-in shower would make a big difference. It’s an older hotel, much like a lot of the local real estate.
