A friend who brought me here said it was an old renovated schoolhouse. The grounds have beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, and there’s another open area to the left with live concerts and food trucks. Everywhere I turned, there was another lovely pub, shop, restaurant, or neat seating spot, and the porches were lovely too. We ate at the outdoor restaurant during happy hour, and it was delicious. The tap beer was 10/10. Awesome spot.

I booked spa appointments for four family members, and we all had a fabulous time. The facials were great, and my husband says it was the best pedicure he’s ever had, which says a lot. The facilities were clean and uniquely McMenamins, and it’s relatively close to home. It was in the 90s that day, so we skipped the soaking pool, but I wish we’d had time for it. Another great experience, and I’ll go again.

The gardens and outdoor area are beautiful and well cared for, and every employee we met was kind and helpful. The drinks were plentiful and normally priced. We didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t speak to the hotel amenities. The food was another story. It was well below mediocre and expensive. We paid $115 plus tip for two burgers and fries, a plain Caesar salad with no meat, and one order of chicken tenders and fries. I don’t mind paying for good food, but I think a run to Burgerville would have been better quality. We waited two hours for the food, whether we stayed inside or ate out on the grass. Would we return? Yes, but we’ll eat first and leave if we get hungry.

This place is huge, with a winery, brewery, gardens, hotel, and restaurants, and it’s one of the best McMenamins locations. There’s plenty of parking, and it’s very close to PDX. I stopped in to check it out and found the Red Shed, a cool little bar that sells cigars. It has indoor and outdoor seating, though smoking is only allowed outside. If you’re looking for a great place to visit, put this on your list. Check it out, you’ll like it!

It’s a beautiful property with good tavern style food and beverages, and the saltwater soaking pool was nice, though way overcrowded. Our room was plain and simple, and I wish it had its own restroom. We were kept up all night by a group partying on the porch right by our room and banging on our bedroom window. The party didn’t end until 3 am, and Hubby had to be at wk at 6:30 am. We couldn’t find any staff at the front desk to deal with it. I’d probably stay again, but definitely not near an area where people can gather all night.
