Hampton Inn Tucson Downtown

The front desk staff were friendly and quickly took care of my concerns about the missing shampoo and broken hair dryer. The location is excellent for downtown, with the convention center, clubs, restaurants, and other attractions all within walking distance. I was there for three nights and would give it about 3.5 stars overall. The room was clean and bright, but Wi-Fi was down for two nights. Staff said nearby construction might be the cause, though it was still inconvenient. I found there was no shampoo only once I was in the shower, which was frustrating, and the hair dryer didn’t work, so I couldn’t dry my hair properly. Shower pressure was quite weak, possibly because I was on the sixth floor, and the sink drained so slowly I had to wait before continuing to wash my hands or face.

The walls are thin enough that I could hear the neighbors, though the hotel itself was nicely kept and the staff were very friendly at check-in. Breakfast was just okay. The Egg White Frittata was bland, and the turkey sausage was dry and tasteless. It made me wonder whether whoever plans the menu actually tries the food. The breakfast coffee was good.

After a long drive, we were glad to have a clean, comfortable room at Hampton Inn Tucson Downtown. We’d driven 6,000 miles with my husband, our silky terrier, and me, and checked out of room #625. I’d hesitated to book after seeing so many one-star reviews mentioning “Victoria,” though they didn’t say much about the hotel itself. Curiosity won, and this was our experience. We arrived around two hours before the official 4 pm check-in and were allowed in at no extra charge. The pet fee was $75, and parking cost $20 in a garage around the corner, which was easy and seemed reasonable. The hotel is smoke-free. The lobby was spotless, bright, welcoming, and nicely furnished. Our room was very clean, and the bathroom fixtures, carpet, appliances, TV, and AC all worked well. The bed and linens were fresh with no odors. The carpet had a few spots and could use a deeper clean, but it wasn’t a serious issue. There were plenty of towels. It’s a quiet neighborhood with restaurants within walking distance. There was a little construction nearby, but nothing disruptive. Breakfast was excellent and complimentary, with lots of choice. The outdoor pool and patio looked fun, although we didn’t have time to use them. I don’t remember the exact rate we paid, but it was absolutely worth it. Five stars from me, it was a wonderful stay and I’d recommend the hotel. Thanks, keep up the good work!

When I’m back in town, I usually stay here. It’s easy to get to, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the location works well for visiting family scattered around Tucson. The price is good, too. I also like that the parking garage can only be entered by customers. A solid choice.
