We stayed six nights, and the staffing and training seemed inadequate. One night, maintenance was using a drill to fix a door at 11:30. We paid for two rooms but didn’t get a key for the first room until the second night. We booked through Expedia and gave them a credit card to charge at check-in, but they charged the wrong card for all four rooms. I’ve spent the last month trying to reach them, but the phone is always busy. They also raised the weekly price because of the gem shows. It should have been $50 a night, and even at that rate I’d still feel overcharged.
The one good thing is the location, right off the highway with easy access. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. There’s no room service, even when you ask, and they always have an excuse for not doing it. You have to bring towels down to exchange them, then they tell you they don’t have any. The beds are very old, worn out, and uncomfortable. The good reviews seem to be older or written by employees or their friends. The guests we spoke with during our stay all had negative things to say.
I was exhausted after driving 24 hours from Seattle and just wanted a shower and a bed. The staff were great, but I found dog hair on the shower walls, bathroom and room floors, AC unit, and nightstand drawer handles. There were stains on the bed cover, and the bed looked slept in. I asked for clean sheets and blankets when I arrived. I tried not to think much about the dog smell or my dog allergy, but the next morning I woke up struggling to breathe. It felt like a dog was sitting on my chest. I quickly took allergy medicine and went outside, and the fresh air started helping right away. Apparently, this is a dog-friendly hotel where all rooms are used for dog lovers, not just designated rooms. When I brought up my concerns and reaction, the staff said they were fully booked and couldn’t move me, but could clean the room again. My sister heard how we were treated and about my allergic reaction, then immediately booked rooms for my family at the Hilton. I’ll never stay at Red Roof again. That’s what I get for trying somewhere new. Management still hasn’t contacted me about my feedback or the problems, and they didn’t compensate us for the stay. People with dog allergies don’t seem to get recognized or respected, while dog owners and dog lovers get the red carpet. I’m tired of being pushed aside for a damn dog!
The only downside was that there was no closet or anywhere to hang clothes. Otherwise, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the pillows were great. The staff were helpful and accommodating, and the area was quiet and easy to get to. I’d stay here again.
The roads leading to the hotel and the big pothole by the entrance and exit are pretty rough. That’s not the hotel’s fault, though, and it should be nice once the construction is finished. We had a great experience as a family. Rocki, the daytime front desk clerk, was amazing, always smiling and ready to help. Our room was one of two without cable, so she offered to move us the next day and also brought a separate remote for another TV app. The evening and overnight clerks were great and very helpful too. I can’t say enough good things about the staff.
