TownePlace Suites by Marriott Tucson

The woman working the front desk during ice was very helpful and considerate, and made my stay feel great. She was accommodating whenever I asked for things like towels. I like the hotel so much now that I’d come back when I’m in the area for work.

After a BMX race in Tucson, I stayed here for the first time with my husband and our two boys. The two-bedroom suite was extremely small for a suite, with small beds and only one bathroom. The windows were foggy and in bad shape, so we couldn’t enjoy the nice views. The price was super expensive, which I wouldn’t mind if the room were up to par, but it wasn’t. For me, the stay was just okay, and we’ll most likely not return.

Check-in with Ying was great once we found the entrance, which wasn’t where I expected a hotel entrance to be. There are snacks and food in the lobby, including ice cream and frozen meals. Our two-bedroom suite was very clean and spacious, with roomy closets, laundry baskets, organizer shelves, and a nice kitchen with all the appliances we needed. The tub had a small drip, but it wasn’t a big deal or inconvenient. We’ll definitely stay again.

The staff were friendly and professional, and I appreciated the clean, well-equipped gym that's open 24 hours in a separate building. But my room felt very dated, even though some reviews show newer ones, and the bathroom setup was the biggest problem. The tub area is cramped and separated from the sink. Its door barely clears the toilet and only opens partway over the tub. The remaining fixed glass blocks much of the tub, and with the sliding panel missing, there was no way to shower without splashing water across the bathroom floor. Getting into the shower meant squeezing between the toilet and tub so I could shut the door. That was especially awkward with three or more people sharing the bathroom. For a property with the Marriott name, this old building really needs renovation. I’d expect this kind of setup at a Motel 6 or an old Ramada Inn.
