Baymont by Wyndham Tullahoma

The room smelled strongly of cigarettes even though it was marked non-smoking. The inside door latch was broken and hanging loose, and the lower peephole intended for wheelchair users had toilet paper stuffed into it and paint over it. The heater kept getting stuck on settings, so we had to call someone to get the heat working when it was 20-30 degrees outside. They fixed that, but didn’t address the latch or peephole. I would have changed rooms if I could, but this was the only accessible room nearby within my budget, so we stuck it out.

Our room was clean when we checked in, quiet, and free of the hotel stereotypes people worry about. Breakfast was hot and ready, and they’re doing some remodeling now. I’d expect a stay here to be a good one. We were staying for an extended stretch, and Ms.Vicki at the front desk made it feel much less stressful. She treated my family and everyone else I saw her help with so much care. Asking for towels, toilet paper, shampoo, or conditioner never felt embarrassing or like I was bothering her. She always greeted us with a big smile and made it clear I wasn’t being a bugaboo. If you cross paths with Ms. Vicki at Baymont, you’ll be in good hands.

Love Tullahoma, but this room was bad. It looked clean at first and still felt filthy, with mold everywhere and a musty smell. There was a roach in the freezer, and the coffee pot was moldy. Never again.

I lasted one night and canceled the rest of our stay. The shower water never got hot, the pillows were awful, and the bed was really uncomfortable. The walls were dirty, and there was trash on the stairs and landing. The room smelled terrible and had stains on the carpet. I couldn’t tell whether one mark was blood or rust, but it was gross enough to make me feel like someone had been murdered there. The door wouldn’t latch, and the jam was broken like it had been kicked in before, so we had to brace it with our things.
