Aloft by Marriott Tulsa Downtown

The short walk to the concert was convenient, about five minutes, but for what I paid I expected a lot more. We spent 15 minutes driving around because the maps took us to the area without showing where the hotel parking entrance was. When we called, the front desk woman was rude and just said it was on 5th and Denver, which didn’t help. Our mobile keys didn’t work either, so we had to go back down for regular ones. The room had a see-through shower wall and no proper bathroom door, which felt awkward while visiting with a friend. There was no microwave in the room, just one in the lobby, and our windows were completely blocked. Breakfast wasn’t included, and the lobby drinks cost $8 for a standard bottle. There wasn’t any hand soap in the room, either. Parking was another $25 a day, so the $540 for two guests and two nights turned into $50 more. The downsides outweighed the convenience, and I probably wouldn’t book here again.

The downtown view and the room itself were nice, but the setup for watching TV was disappointing. There was no couch or pullout for the kids, only two round stools and a hard classroom-style chair, with a lot of the room left unused. The TV looked tiny on the big wall, maybe 36-40 inches, and seemed outdated. No smart TV or in-room microwave, either.

Being downtown put the BOK CENTER within walking distance, which worked well for the venue we were going to. The garage also kept our car out of the weather and gave us peace of mind about its security. From the lobby through to the room, the place felt comfortable and welcoming. The staff were pleasant, courteous, smiling, and happy to answer questions.

At least the hotel was close to the BOK center, but the price felt way too high, even with a concert going on. Parking was scarce, and it was confusing to find the main entrance. The lobby had a strange smell. Our room was dim, the windows were covered, and the furniture looked old, with marks where it had rubbed against the wall. The bathroom was cramped with almost no counter space. Its sliding door wouldn’t close all the way, there was enough of a gap to fit a phone through. The toilet flushed slowly, the AC was loud, and the odd looking tile seemed dirty. The shower was small and unflattering.
