The bed and pillows were comfortable, and staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was close to breakfast places, which was convenient. We didn't eat breakfast there, so I can't comment on it, but the coffee was awful. The room wasn't clean enough. The floor was sticky, with debris and hair on it. The remote was disgusting. I wondered whether it was just sticky because of its rubber surface, so I wiped it down. The back came up dark brown on the wipe, and the keypad side was just as gross. I couldn't get into the spaces around the buttons, and felt I had to wash my hands after touching it. There was a big gap at the bottom of the entry door, and the bathroom door wouldn't shut. We wouldn't stay here again.
The lobby and hallway floors before the carpet needed a serious mop because there was a strange film on them. At check-in, the clerk was friendly enough, but just handed over the key and walked away. I had to ask where the room was. It was the same with the second room. Because we had to switch rooms, I couldn't shower before my doctor's appointment. I'd booked that first room in advance because I needed the shower. Nobody offered a discount for the inconvenience. I didn't ask the clerk, since I figured it probably wouldn't do any good, but I'll speak with my booking company. Room #122 was filthy, and #114 was a bit better. The first room had hair everywhere, including in the shower. The soap dispenser was broken and lying on the shower seat, dried soap had puddled under the chair, and a leaking shower head had sent water into the bathroom and in front of the sink. In the second room, there was hair in the outer room area, and the toilet was dirty on the seat, underneath it, and inside the bowl. One pillow had something yellowish-brown on it and a weird odor. The floors needed a good mopping too. Rooms: -5 Service: 1 Location: 8
After the service rep NIcK returned my $100 deposit from the drawer, he walked off. When he came back, he asked why we'd covered the smoke detector. I told him we hadn't, asked what he was talking about, and laughed that it was the oldest trick in the book, making up a reason to keep the deposit. I asked to see the room myself, but he refused. He told me to take the deposit and DONT COME BACK. The breakfast was basic and nasty, the fruit was old, and someone will get sick from this place. I checked in around 1:30 a.m. to sleep before we hit the road. I don't smoke. Check-in went fine, and I paid a $100 deposit plus $99 for the room, which was listed at $65 a night. I didn't argue about being charged $99. We slept and checked out at 8:30 a.m. When asked if everything was okay, I said yes, no issues. Overcharged, lied on, embarrassing. SCAMMERS. If you check in, take pictures of your room, especially the smoke detector. I'll file a consumer complaint about the overcharge and the deposit scam. I'm sure he's done this to a few people of color or homeless families.
At 2:15 a.m., the fire alarm went off. We were disoriented and couldn't tell if there was a real fire; it took us at least three minutes to get out of the room. On the first floor, a woman in a wheelchair was shouting for help, with smoke pouring from her room. My husband and I went to help. She had no clothes on and was covered by a blanket, so she asked us to get her clothes. It took the front desk at least another minute or so to appear, and they never brought a fire extinguisher. Thinking the smoke came from an incense burner, my husband went into the room and put out an actual fire. He asked staff several times whether they'd called the fire department. At first they seemed unsure if anyone had called. When firefighters arrived, we were told it was safe to return to our room. It took us a long time to fall asleep again. In the morning, I spotted lots of bugs and possibly a cockroach. Yuck. After all that, they only discounted the room by 50%. I think we should have received a full refund. I hope I don't bring roaches home, and I hope Wyndham reaches out. We'd planned just a quick overnight stop on the way home and didn't check in until almost 10:30 p.m. The lobby smelled of cleaner, and everything looked freshly painted. Our room was clean and newly renovated, but the mattress springs made loud noises like fireworks whenever we turned over.
The beds were fantastic, and the room was clean and comfortable. This was my second stay, though, and breakfast was awful both times. If breakfast doesn't matter to you, the hotel is great.
