Tru By Hilton Tupelo

The room looked good apart from some stubble in the sink, which made me wonder about the cleaning. The location is good and the hotel is nice enough, but the walls are incredibly thin. I could hear my neighbors as if they were sitting in my room, and people in the hall sounded like they were coming right in.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and the hotel was very pet friendly. The rooms are small but clean. The shower was hot and clean, though there was one stain and it wasn't spotless like brand-new. The beds were too soft for my liking.

There was nowhere to sit outside, which was inconvenient, and the whole place felt more geared toward people living there long-term, like it was for homeless people on an extended stay. I was shocked that a hotel only about four years old was so poorly maintained. The carpets were black with stains and disgusting, and the lobby furniture clearly hadn't been cleaned. The same trash sat outside the elevator for two days, while towels and garbage were left in the hallway near rooms all day. If filth doesn't bother you, stay here. I was shocked and won't be back.

The hallway on the second floor smelled really bad, the TV picture kept freezing and pixelating, and the wireless phone chargers didn't work. The shower doors were installed backwards, and mold around the toilet was simply covered over when they regrouted. The sprinkler system looked ugly in the ceiling. This feels like an older facility that was renovated by people who did the bare minimum without pride in their work. Compared with what I'm used to at Hilton, I was completely disappointed.
