My fiance and I booked a room for Christmas Eve yesterday, and the stay was awful. There were wet stains on the bed and the TV was broken. We took pictures of both, but the woman at the front desk got an attitude and said we couldn’t change rooms. We also heard and smelled something burning, and there was loud music. After I showered, someone was peeping through the peephole. When my fiance got out of the shower, housekeeping tried to open our door without our knowledge. We still haven’t received a full refund.
We paid nearly $300 for one night at Americas Best Value Inn during an Alabama football weekend, and the room fell far short of what that price should get you. We’re from out of the area, and this turned what should have been a fun weekend into a major inconvenience. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially on a busy weekend. There were live and dead bugs around the room, black stains on the towels, unswept floors, and hair and visible residue in the tub. The sheets and pillowcases were stained and had hair on them too. The smoke alarm kept beeping because its batteries needed replacing. We had booked a non-smoking room, but when we returned, it reeked of smoke. The front desk woman was kind and responsive. I regret not getting her name. She arranged for the room to be cleaned, and we left for about an hour, closer to 9 pm, to give the staff time. The sheets and towels had been changed and the alarm was fixed when we returned, but the floor was still dirty, bugs remained, and the room and bathroom were still unsanitary and unpleasant. We’ve tried several times to reach the manager and left our number with the front desk, but so far there’s been no follow-up or effort to make things right. That lack of customer service, along with the high price for such a substandard room, is incredibly frustrating. We expected at least a clean place to stay.
During the Alabama vs Vandy game, rates were high, so we paid about $300 for a room that didn’t come close to expectations. I checked out the next morning and asked the office for the manager. They gave me a card to call; when I called, I was told he wasn’t in. I called back to say I’d missed him again and left my number, but never got a return call. The smoke alarm was beeping from dead batteries, and there were numerous dead flies around. The sheets, towels, and shower curtain were stained. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, with a dirty tub, hair and stains, plus contact lenses on the floor. The front desk girl had someone replace the alarm battery, sheets, and towels, but afterward the room smelled strongly of smoke and the overall cleanliness hadn’t improved.
Booked a night for the football game. The room was decent, and the front desk lady, DiDi, was especially nice and helpful. I asked for a late checkout and got to leave three hours later. You get what you pay for.
Room 107 had cobwebs on the ceiling, and the microwave and fridge had a shortage. I also believe housekeeping entered my room and went through my things without permission. I paid in full at 10 a.m. and told management I didn’t need service. She gave me a do not disturb sign, which I put on the door before leaving. About an hour later, my key wouldn’t work. At the office, the short, big-boned Arabian lady with black hair and a bad attitude told me housekeeping had gone into my room and seen my tortie cat, who I’ve had for seven years. Paying extra for her wasn’t the problem; them entering without my consent was. My belongings were stolen, and the police helped me retrieve them. I have proof and evidence, and a civil lawsuit against the establishment is ongoing. I’m furious that they entered my room and took things, and I felt judged by my appearance. I believe they find excuses to charge extra if you look like you have money, and they intentionally raise prices on game weekends. Watch your belongings and pay attention if housekeeping keeps walking past your room. The office woman’s attitude was enough to have me calling on Jesus. Horrible experience, and I think the place should be shut down.
