Cold Water Inn

The convenient location drew me in, but I regret staying because the renovation was nowhere near finished. The vending and ice machines were missing or out of order, and the hallway carpet had globs of drywall mud and paint and smelled like paint. In the lobby, power tools, dust, and half-finished projects were everywhere. It felt like a construction site, but the staff just gave half-hearted shrugs and vague apologies, then carried on as if nothing was wrong. I'm baffled they didn't close for a couple of weeks, finish the work, and then reopen with the flair of a higher-end hotel. I'd tell anyone thinking of booking to call ahead and check whether construction is complete. I wish I hadn't been tired when I pulled into the lot. I'm sure the hotel will be beautiful once the renovation is done, but right now it's a mess.

My wife and I were visiting from New Zealand via Australia and traveling through the fantastic southern states of the USA. We stayed for a couple of nights in early December 2025. The staff were friendly, the price was excellent value, and the location was decent since everything in the Shoals is about five minutes away. I'd recommend it.

The included breakfast was basic but did the job, and the biscuits straight from the oven were great. The rooms were clean and equipped to a decent standard for the price, and reception was friendly. The building is modern but has a nod to grand architecture, with a dramatic double staircase sweeping up to a lounge area. That was a fun touch. My gripe is the cheap plastic plates and cutlery that went straight in the trash. Seriously, get a dishwasher and proper plates. Guests and the planet will thank you.

We booked this hotel because it was handy for the two historic recording studios in Muscle Shoals, and it worked well for that. The room was spacious, modern, and clean. Staff were friendly and efficient, and the price was excellent. The entrance feels grand, with a sweeping staircase on each side as you walk into reception. A very good hotel, well recommended.
