We came for a winter wedding in Winthrop and picked this hotel for its location and good reviews. On arrival they upgraded us to a suite because they knew we were attending the wedding, which was so thoughtful. It was cozy and clean, and the full kitchen made it easy to cook. The gas fireplace was a lovely touch with snow falling outside. Breakfast was amazing and home cooked. We’ll definitely return, and I can’t recommend it enough!

The screened porch overlooking the river was a perfect spot to sit and read. We had a big room and bed, plus a lovely sitting room and kitchen. The hotel is lovely, and the people were as nice and friendly as could be. They’ve gone to great lengths to make guests comfortable. It’s a quiet little town in the Cascades. Evening food choices can be a bit limited early in the week, so check ahead if that’s when you’re staying. This was an easy five-star stay, just lovely.

We came for North Cascades NP, and I really hated to leave this relaxing place. The owner has thought of everything, including skylights over the bed for star watching. Every detail felt first class. On Sunday, when the restaurants were all closed, we went to Hanks for steaks, salad, and baked potatoes, then cooked them on the nice gas grill overlooking the river. Highly recommend. A++ PHENOMENAL!

We only spent one night in Twisp during a two-week road trip, and this was easily the nicest place we stayed. The room was clean, cute, and comfortable, and we wished we could have stayed longer. They included a homemade, healthy breakfast with gluten-free options. It’s a quaint boutique-style hotel beside a little river, with gardens, a hammock, grill, and patio seating for guests. We felt welcome as soon as we arrived, and they gave us a tour of the property. The lobby had a cozy, homey, relaxing feel.

I hate to be the contrarian, but if you have a dog, I’d only stay here if you’re completely desperate. We splurged on a “suite” in the “Paws Awhile” rooms and found a cramped, badly laid-out little hole with almost no windows or natural light. Twisp is lovely, and maybe the rooms in the main hotel are too. But traveling with a dog got us sent to a dank little building across the street, in a bleak concrete parking lot. Honestly, a Motel 6 room has more style and charm, and even one facing a freeway would have a better view and more light. The advertised “hammock and firepit by the river” wasn’t somewhere we wanted to spend time. It looks straight out at the main road, with cars crossing the bridge. The staff were gracious, though, and refunded our second night after I politely explained we couldn’t spend a special occasion family weekend in such a dark, depressing, charmless place at almost $400 a night. They also served a very nice breakfast in their charming lobby, which deserves credit. The sweet woman at reception was understandably disappointed we were leaving, and said, “well, most people think they are just lucky to have anywhere to stay with their dog!” I don’t think you should accept being treated like a third-class guest just because you’re traveling with a well-behaved dog. There are much nicer pet-friendly places in the Methow Valley. We went to Sun Mountain Resort instead, in the pet-friendly Gardner Building, with a glorious view across the Methow Valley and a lake nearby where our dog could swim. It was basically the same price and saved our special occasion weekend. Don’t be a doofus like me and trust the TRS ratings on Google if you’re traveling with a pet and care about having an attractive, naturally lit room where you’d enjoy spending time.
