I turned around and went straight back to the office, but they wouldn’t refund my money. The sheets and pillowcases all had some kind of stain, and the new carpet had been put over the old one, leaving it loose. You could hear people walking and talking as if they were in your room. I lost the $55 and went to the motel 6 down the street instead. It was much nicer for $16 more. Check a room before signing the forms.

We checked out early because the room was so nasty, and I’d rather sleep in my car than stay there again. The red carpet was blackened and coming loose, wallpaper was ripped off, and the bathroom fan and heater had been torn from the ceiling. The A/C was mounted so high on the wall that you had to stand on a chair to see what you were doing. The “queen” beds were really doubles and felt like sleeping in a dry river bed, while the shower nozzle kept dripping. Reservations for other family members weren’t there. They were called while on the way and told there were no rooms, so they’d have to go to Willits, 25 miles away. The front desk lady said they only managed the place, but wouldn’t give us the owner’s contact information. Never again.

The rooms were filthy, the floors creaked, and the walls were so thin we could hear the neighbors. We were charged for Wi-Fi that didn’t exist, and while other area hotels had opened their pools, this place’s pool was still green. The owners were rude and intrusive, and there were suspicious bank charges that looked like I’d been charged four times for one room. I also believe they treat employees unfairly, paying homeless workers $10 a day, which is unacceptable in America. Their own guests could be loud and obnoxious, but the owners never seemed to call the police. They also seemed to make racially inclined decisions, either heavily questioning Black guests or forcing them to leave.

I stayed here a while ago, and the room I was given looked like a badly cleaned homicide scene. The ceiling and the carpet right below it were badly stained, the carpet itself was strange, and the window looked out onto a dark hallway. The lady at the front desk wasn’t nice and seemed to change my room as soon as she saw me in person, putting me in a room tucked way in the back, by the dark alley and stairs. I went back to ask for another room and said it looked like a poorly cleaned crime scene. She didn’t respond to that, said no other rooms were available, and refused when I pointed out the roughly 20 keys hanging beside her. She also wouldn’t refund me, saying that because I booked online I’d have to go through them. Maybe the other rooms are nice, I don’t know. If you don’t want to gamble on whether your clothes get you the homicide room, go somewhere else. Apparently shorts and a tank top or noodle strap aren’t the outfit to wear when checking in.
