From check-in through checkout, everything went smoothly and felt stress-free. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we felt welcome. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well kept, and the location was convenient. We'd happily come back and recommend it.

We are requesting a full refund for our stay and the $12 we paid to wash and dry clothes after finding pests. I am also planning to report this to the local health department and the Better Business Bureau because of the conditions we encountered. Please contact me as soon as you receive this message. We were with our football team, which had booked a block of rooms, and checked into Room 214 around 6:00 PM. We went out for dinner, then returned for the night. Around midnight, my youngest woke with an itchy stomach. I saw several bites near his belly button, then more on his neck, back, and legs. My husband and I checked the bed and found what looked like dried bed bug eggs and shells. Both my children and I had been bitten. We told the front desk right away. Nobody apologized. They said our only option was another room on the same floor. I asked to inspect it first and requested large bags so we could isolate our things for immediate washing. We got no help or reimbursement for the laundry. They moved us to Room 306, which staff said had been cleaned. As soon as we entered, we saw what appeared to be roach eggs and a live roach, which my husband killed. At about 1:20 AM, I went back to the desk with photos and said we'd check out once the kids woke up. I asked for a manager's contact information, but was told no manager was on site on weekends and I'd have to wait until Monday. I'm writing this at 2:00 AM before a 7:00 AM game, deeply upset and worried about bringing pests home and about my children's safety. When I showed the desk associate the photos, he dismissed us, saying it was “bizarre” that nobody else in our group had complained and suggesting what I reported was unlikely. I found that insulting and unprofessional.

I found bugs in my room soon after checking in, including one that looked like a large roach. I reported it to the front desk immediately. They apologized and said they'd refund my stay, but required me to check out right then, in the middle of the night. That was stressful and extremely inconvenient, especially since the room's unsanitary condition caused the problem. They said they would inspect and treat the affected rooms, which I appreciate, but this shouldn't have happened. Guest safety and cleanliness need to be priorities. I wouldn't recommend staying at the AmericInn by Wyndham in Urbana-Champaign until the pest issue is properly addressed.

Aoumik Patel, the General Manager, was friendly and very helpful, and knew a lot about the property and surrounding area. The place felt safe and comfortable, with great lighting that made the room feel warm. It was extremely clean, with new furnishings and recent updates. The stand alone shower was amazing. A great spot to relax, whether you're staying briefly or longer.
