Extended Stay America Des Moines Urbandale

I really like the staff here, but the room needs work and I think $336.40 is too much for it. The shower spicket was broken and had to be replaced, and the phone cord was broken too. It was only kind of clean, with a horrible mess under the bed and sticky spots on the floor. After 14 days, I had to ask for fresh sheets and blankets. I clean the room myself and had to call maintenance about the problems. Clean towels cost $1.75, and you have to rent dishes. Rooms are cleaned only every 14 days of a stay. If I'm going to be here two or three months, I think the rooms should be cheaper.

I feel safe here with my young daughter, and I'd recommend the place to people I know. I needed somewhere for a longer stay while apartment hunting in a new city. Some of the reviews had me worried about bringing her, but I needed a place. Drea found me a better price when I called than I had seen online. I knew I wasn't booking the Hilton, but the room was very clean and smelled great, and getting checked in was quick and easy. The sink drain gave us trouble. Gina, who is the most beautifully put together and professional woman I've met, and Drea came by to see if they could fix it. They couldn't, so they called Lauren the maintenance man, who had it sorted before I even got my things upstairs. Whenever I've asked for something, they've either handed it to me or taken care of it quickly. Gina and Drea have gone out of their way to help me. There are the usual people staying for work, and I've had no bad interactions with anyone. I haven't come across a crowd of suspicious-looking foreigners. There are certain people who should never leave home, but for everyone else this is a great place, especially if you need somewhere safe for a longer stay.

The lobby decorations for the holidays were a nice touch, and I found the room had recently been remodeled. Drea and Natasha were very helpful whenever I ran into an issue. I'd recommend staying here.

I was supposed to drive three hours for work, but a huge snowstorm came up. I was disappointed that the hotel wouldn't let me cancel, even though most hotels, or any person with compassion, would. They wanted me to drive through the storm and stick to their policy. Human lives should matter more than greed. Shame on them.
