Kinderlou Inn

The room was the last straw: lumpy beds with springs you could feel, noise from every cough and sneeze next door, a tub that wouldn’t drain, and someone else’s hair all over it. We left a day early. Thankfully, we got a refund, but I can’t recommend the hotel. Austin's Steakhouse is still great, though. We chose the hotel because we’ve always liked Austin's Steakhouse and expected the same standard. Instead, after driving 12 hours from Baltimore, we were told they couldn’t rent to us because the address on our cards was within 50 miles. We were moving from GA to OK, but our bank and card records still showed our family’s Ohio address, and the restriction wasn’t advertised online. When I asked why locals couldn’t stay, the woman said, “because they are very bad people.” She insisted on ID showing our new address. I’d just returned from an overseas tour and hadn’t reached OK yet, so I didn’t have that ID. We managed to use my old ID with its previous address. I should’ve walked away then. At check-in she also warned me not to put the room keys near credit cards or cell phones or they’d get wiped.

The room had a very nice shower, strong AC, and a mini fridge. The bed was firm enough for my bad back, and the small TV had the channels I wanted, though it took two remotes. The staff were exceptionally nice, but check-in and checkout both took longer than I expected. The place was darling, and our second room was nice since the first hadn’t been cleaned. Given the room’s size and appointments, I thought it was a little expensive. I’d stay again.

The pool looked nice, and the people were nice too. The outside looks good, with a volleyball net, other games, and breakfast in the morning. Our room and beds were clean, but there was an unpleasant smell in the room and especially the hall. First night has been okay so far, just wish the hallway smelled better.

Our socks were black within the first hour, and the carpet in the pet-friendly room was badly stained and dirty even though we paid extra for the pet fee. There was also a dead cockroach in the bathroom. The staff seemed fed up with guests, and service was poor. We booked a suite for four, but it only had beds for two. The rollaway we paid for was in such bad shape its springs dug into you. After the weekend, they wouldn’t even give us 15 minutes of late checkout. I won’t stay there again.
