Best Western Inn Of Vancouver

It was a horrible experience. I tried to be fair and factual in this review, but I can't feel good about what happened. I know there are policies, though there was still room for politeness and customer care. I'm a Best Western Rewards Diamond Level member and booked five nights through the rewards website the night before arrival. We got there at 2 p.m. the next day and were told early check-in would cost extra. The place was neat, clean, and empty, and the desk staff were sitting with nothing to do. As a Diamond member, I've often been allowed to check in early. I asked the manager and was told no. The rewards department said the location decides, called the manager, and she still refused. I felt frustrated but believe I stayed polite. She wasn't. When I said I didn't think I could give the hotel a good review, she accused me of threatening her and eventually ended the conversation. I paid the early check-in fee for one night and canceled the rest of my stay. After talking with my wife in the car, we realized we didn't feel comfortable staying under those conditions. I worried I could be accused of misusing the room, so I returned to the desk, asked for a refund, and was denied. We handed back the keys and left without entering the room. I knew the reservation was technically nonrefundable, but as members we'd often been given courtesy help when problems came up. I understand people have bad days, but the manager was incredibly rude and disrespectful. Best Western Rewards members get a survey after checkout, but I didn't receive one from this hotel. I wonder why.

Wow, I booked through hotels.com, but when I got there they wanted to charge a lot more. I reached the manager and eventually found the fees hidden somewhere. When I proved they weren't listed, he got mad and hung up. I got upset and raised my phone, and the guy kicked me off the property. There was only one other vehicle there, maybe that's why. Wouldn't recommend.

For the price, this is a really nice motel. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, the staff have been pleasant, and breakfast was good too.

I wouldn't stay here again. All the rooms open straight to the outdoors, so there's no inside hallway to shelter you from a cold Pacific Northwest winter. You also have to walk outside to reach breakfast. The bathroom setup bothered me too. The sink sits out in the living area rather than being walled off from the bed and seating area, like it is in most places I've stayed. And the bathroom light switch is outside the bathroom.
