Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Vancouver Mall by IHG

We were exhausted and close to tears when we arrived at 10 p.m. with groceries and no reservation. Our Airbnb wasn't ready, and we'd already shopped for food. Crystal was working and immediately understood how stressful it was. She arranged a room that was spotless and very comfortable, let us put frozen groceries in their freezer, and said we could order pizza. Breakfast the next morning was lovely, with bacon, eggs, pastries, and more. Crystal turned a rough evening around for us.

The room was clean and nice, and the staff were friendly. But I didn't get any sleep. From 4 to 7 a.m., a large group, probably drunk, talked loudly in the hallway, yelled at times, and ran back and forth. It felt like they were right in my room. I called reception at 5, and the man who answered sounded confused but said he'd deal with it. The noise carried on until I checked out at 7:30. One of the rooms had its door ajar and loud music playing as I passed. I don't know whether staff ever resolved it. The guests showed no consideration, and the hotel didn't address it in time, if at all. Sleeping is the whole point of staying somewhere like this.

Breakfast had plenty to choose from and was great. I also found the room clean and comfortable, the staff very nice, and the location pleasant. I really enjoyed staying here.

I didn't know anyone in town, and this hotel became a refuge for me and my children during an extremely painful time. I stayed for about two months while trying to discuss the future with my husband, who had been financially supporting many young girls for a long time and had abused our children. He slapped my daughter, so I called the police. He immediately left home and filed a false report, and I was arrested in front of my children and ended up in jail. The hotel staff cared for us, protected us, and treated us like family. They also kept my children, who had escaped from him, safe. As a Japanese person who isn't fluent in English, I could use the workspace to complete paperwork and work out my next steps. On my child's birthday, the staff wrote us a heartfelt card, and we shared some warm, comforting moments. The prosecutor dropped the charges on December 23. I'm now starting divorce proceedings and making a new life with my children in Kansas. When I visit Vancouver, this hotel will always feel like home, and I'm deeply grateful to everyone there. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season. The staff were cheerful and thoughtful with guests. Crystal was always upbeat and gave me so much energy. Marilin felt like a dependable older sister, and Dulce was a wonderfully balanced leader. Ana was kind, and the kids liked her and Crystal. The breakfast area was nice and clean, and I miss Ali’s bacon. I truly recommend this hotel.
