Quality Inn and Suites Hazel Dell

It’s a good little hotel, and the room we ended up with worked, but it wasn’t the accessible room we needed. We called three times because we needed a specific room, even offered to pay before arriving, and were promised they’d hold it. They didn’t. The room also smelled like someone had smoked in it. I called so we wouldn’t be charged for smoking, and they had to spray to reduce the odor. No compensation was offered.

The room description said the small kitchen was fully equipped with cookware, dishes, and utensils. The dishes were chipped or cracked, the cups didn’t match, and neither did the silverware. There was a well-used cutting board and one dull chef’s knife, plus just one medium-sized sauce pot. No pan, no baking sheets, nothing else to cook with. I had to go to Fred Meyers down the street to buy a pan for cooking a steak. There wasn’t any dish soap or sponge either, so afterward I did what I could with hot water and a bathroom towel. I booked this room for the convenient weekend location and to make my own food, but it’s weird that a kitchenette room doesn’t provide these things.

I tried three different ways to book a room here, and there won’t be a fourth. The guy at the counter and on the phone, with the long individual curls, was rude and unprofessional. He made it clear he didn’t even want me coming through the door, walked off before I’d finished speaking, and looked at my children like they were a problem.

On the third night of our three-night family vacation, 9/28, my daughter needed the restroom while we were in the hotel hot tub around 9 pm. An employee confronted her, claiming five adults had been coming and going from our room, and then tried to kick us out. He was clearly inebriated or stimulated, and completely wrong. We stayed mostly at our friends’ house during the trip, with my wife and two kids. We’ll file a formal complaint and seek to charge him with harassment. The male employee with long dark curly hair is a threat to the general public. Be cautious of him.
