The beds were the most comfortable I've had in a motel, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The neighborhood isn't the best part of Vancouver, but it was safe and very quiet at night. For the price, you can't beat the place. I'd recommend it.

The place felt unsafe and badly managed. There were fights and arguments on the property at 2 am, including in a trailer next to the hotel, and loud music went on late at night on nearby public property. Staff let guests know they had to leave for no reason and could only return after 48 hours. A drunk woman guest, who was on probation and in a sobriety program, was looking for ICE and needed help. She was confused about her room number, but staff were unhelpful and even stopped her from getting assistance. Staff showed little concern for guest safety, relying on cameras instead of helping proactively. If Mr. Patel's staff can't coordinate with local enforcement or meet basic legal and regulatory requirements for running a hotel, that points to poor and negligent management and may violate Washington labor and hotel regulations. Nationality makes no difference when management can't take care of guests or address the safety of the local business community. There were plenty of basic problems too: the blow dryer was broken and hazardous, the phone didn't work, the fridge was broken and smelled odd, housekeeping didn't come daily, and the laundry machines were out of order. The coffee was disappointing, and there was no breakfast or snacks. Despite the revenue, maintenance and upkeep were clearly neglected. Reception staff were unhelpful, communicated poorly, and didn't seem to care. They were lazy, unprofessional, unfriendly, and ungroomed, and told guests to help themselves when that was their job. They made no effort to fix the issues. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Motel 8 to anyone. I'd fire the current staff and hire myself.

When we came back, our room door was standing open. Since it opens straight to the outside, the room was cold. Fortunately, all our belongings were still there, but housekeeping hadn't cleaned the room.

There was trash all over the grounds, and the old building isn't maintained. In my room, the door had holes and the trim was missing. The fridge was missing hardware, and a strange smell lingered in the corners. There's one old washer and one old dryer, and the washer currently has a sign saying it's broken. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
