Four Points by Sheraton Ventura Harbor Resort

The harbor is close by, which helps make up for some of the rough edges. They seem to have done a substantial remodel of the lobby and guest rooms, but ours still needed work. The bathroom had an odd layout, with a huge area for the tub, shower, and toilet, and some fixtures looked due for replacement. The grounds weren't in the best shape, though they weren't terrible. The location is the strongest part.

The harbor location is great for evening walks, and the staff were pleasant and friendly. Breakfast was quick, tasty, and affordable, with free coffee in the lobby. The hotel does feel dated, and the faucet squeaked while the old air conditioner was loud. Our room wasn't serviced once during the stay. We left the housekeeping tag out on day one, but nobody came the next day. We called the front desk three times to try to sort it out. In the end, someone brought clean towels and took the dirty ones, but the beds weren't made, the sheets weren't changed, the floor wasn't vacuumed, and the trash stayed. Mistakes happen, but after several calls, it was surprising that the problem still wasn't properly resolved.

The Four Points Ventura Harbor is a relaxing place to stay, and the staff were laid-back and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable, and the value is hard to beat if you want to be by the water. Harbor Village shops and restaurants are just a short walk away. I spent a few days there and was really happy with the choice.

At $191 a night, I expected more. The room and bathroom were very dated, the shower floor had a big gray line that looked dirty, and the AC seemed from the '80s with no real temperature control. Parking costs $12, and breakfast isn't included. I've stayed in better motels, and this doesn't live up to the Marriott brand. I'd look elsewhere.
