The place is quaint and cute, but that’s about it. We booked a King Studio online and arrived at 8 p.m. to find the office closed. Our key was in an envelope taped to the door. The room had a queen bed instead, and the mattress was so worn out it should’ve been replaced years ago. My husband is 6 feet 4 inches tall, and neither of us slept at all. It was the most uncomfortable bed. In the morning, we had coffee but no coffeemaker, and there were no washcloths for the shower. We had to wait until 9 a.m. for the office to open. I politely explained why we were unhappy, and the office lady said she had new coffeemakers but nobody had told her to put one in that unit. She didn’t say anything about the worn mattress. They offered no accommodation for such an inexcusable sleepless night. I’ll never stay there again.

The beach is only two blocks away, and there are lots of restaurants at different price points within a short walk for lunch and dinner. For a week’s stay, the one-bedroom with kitchenette met my needs. You can’t cook a meal there, but putting breakfast together is easy. There’s a sink, coffee maker with coffee and nondairy creamer, mini fridge, microwave, mugs, and a few utensils. My only suggestion is to buy jugs of water for coffee, since the tap water is drinkable but has a sulfur taste. That’s no fault of the Sea Turtle Inn. I think of this as Old Vero, with the charm of the small town it used to be. The building is older, but clean and well maintained.

The pool and courtyard are beautiful and private, and the location is great for walking downtown. The owner was extremely helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed our night away from the cold. It’s a three-star hotel, and the rooms could use a little TLC, but we really had no complaints. It’s a great affordable option in the area.

The pool area was great, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. It’s really close to the beach, with shops, restaurants, Humiston Beach, and the playground all within walking distance. Loved this place!
