Hilton Garden Inn Victoria

I probably wouldn’t stay here again. The price is higher than at other hotels, but the rooms don’t offer anything special, and they’re pretty average. The beds weren’t good and the pillows were very worn. There’s no breakfast or evening social, and though there is a restaurant, you pay for everything. The location is secluded, but awkward. The hot tubs and pool are about the only distinctive thing, and even those felt average. There are better places for less money, so I left really disappointed.

When I went to shower, the towels that should’ve been white looked dingy gray. Please throw some bleach in with them. The rest of the room was fine once we got checked in. We arrived around 1130, and the desk staff were busy sorting out another guest’s room mix-up with someone who apparently had the same name. I was on crutches, waiting to check in, while several employees focused on that stressful situation. If staff see someone on crutches or in a wheelchair waiting, they should help get them into a room instead of leaving them standing there in pain.

The staff were friendly, but the property was generally dirty and I wouldn’t stay there again. I came in late after working all day, and the room smelled terribly musty. I woke up feeling awful and went back to work. After I messaged the hotel about the odor, they said they’d “fix it.” When I returned, I realized the room was covered in black mold. I asked to switch rooms and didn’t even get an apology. The reviews were accurate.

We found sugar ants all over the carpet and in a suitcase we’d left on the floor on our second day. There wasn’t any food in it. The rooms have been looking more and more tired over the years, and this latest stay was disappointing. We’ll look for somewhere else next time.
