Vienna Wolf Trap Hotel

We paid about $75 for one night, but this run-down place shouldn't cost over $40 a night after fees and taxes. For $25 more, there's a nice hotel nearby, and that extra cost is definitely worth it. The room smelled overwhelmingly of urine. The blinds, box spring, and pretty much everything else looked yellowed and old. There was clear water damage on the ceiling. The leak had been fixed, but the beam and ceiling were warped and still had water spots.

We were booked for two nights, but left after one. Even that was one too many. The door wouldn't latch, so we had to brace it with a chair. There was a floor stain that looked suspiciously like blood, and roaches were crawling on the walls. The pillows felt like empty burlap sacks, and we wouldn't sleep under the covers. I was even scared to use the shower. The place was disgusting. I went in with low expectations and still came away disappointed. If you're thinking about staying, spend the extra money and avoid this dump.

The staff were lovely and the location was convenient. Beyond that, everything was awful. There was trash in the hallways, mold in the bathroom, and stains on the bare box spring. Half the room's lights didn't work, and when I tried to switch off a side table lamp that had been on for ten minutes, I burned my hand. The AC didn't work either. Those felt like serious fire hazards. There was an unpleasant smell in the room and an even worse one in the bathroom. Calling it dated does a disservice to older hotels that are kept in good shape. This was an unsafe dump.

The staff were very nice, which is the one good thing I can say. The website listed a continental breakfast, but the front desk told me they no longer offer it because their food license was revoked, probably because of roaches. Another guest said they'd found roaches in their room too. From outside, the place looks nice. Inside, the decor is old, the floor looked uncleaned, and there were wall stains that seemed like they could've been wiped off. A hole beside the showerhead might be where the roaches came in, since I found one on the headboard. They'd patched holes in the wood paneling with tape painted brown. Don't stay here unless you like what you see.
