Garner Hotel Virginia Beach North by IHG

The room was especially spacious, and even with a busy weekend and a three-day track meet going on, the hotel stayed clean and quiet. Brianna helped me check in and was amazing, friendly, engaging, and very helpful. I was surprised to hear about the parking charge because I hadn't paid for parking on my previous stay, but Brianna explained it wasn't her fault, so I understood. I had to check in again the second night, and Rochelle was polite and friendly too. I'd recommend this property.

This was such a bad stay that they might as well turn the place into beach parking. Our first room had dog hair everywhere, including between the sheets and all over the couches, clothes, and luggage. There was a lot of it, and my daughter had a full allergic reaction to the dog dander. We were moved, but then pipes burst in the laundry room and feces and urine water spilled onto us and our things. Breakfast was another mess. The milk smelled spoiled, and its label said Tuesday even though it was Thursday. When I asked for more, I was told there wasn't any. We left at 9 a.m. and returned at 3 p.m. to find the room hadn't been serviced, so we had to wait at the front desk because there was no waiting area. A housekeeper said there were only two of them. The tub later clogged, leaving us standing in water to shower, and old balloons behind a seat made it seem they only clean what can be seen. We got no notice before a message appeared on the door saying the room wouldn't be serviced that day. There were no posted rules saying beds wouldn't be made if belongings were on them. With four major sporting events in town, other hotels were unavailable or three times the original price, so we couldn't move. The manager had to drive in because of the complaints. He said he couldn't move us to another property but would give a partial refund, then asked for an email to send 10,000 IHG points, supposedly worth $50. He later avoided contact, and I never got the points or even the promised $50. When I asked for tissue because the room hadn't been serviced, the manager turned away and rolled his eyes, as if basic supplies were too much to ask for. He asked me not to leave a bad review because the place was still growing, in exchange for the points refund. This is reasonably priced because it feels like a motel or extended stay. There's nothing IHG about it, and it should be treated that way.

The location made everything easy, and I found the atmosphere calm and welcoming, just right for relaxing at Virginia Beach. The room was peaceful and cozy, with a breathtaking sea view that I loved waking up to and unwinding beside at night. The hotel was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, and the staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely caring. It felt like a home away from home. I loved my stay and would absolutely recommend Garner Hotel Virginia Beach North by IHG. I can't wait to return.

I got a view from the sixth floor even though the hotel is across the street from the oceanfront. Parking was plentiful, and the staff were courteous. This was my first stay at a Garner property. Breakfast was much like a typical Holiday Inn Express, which was fine.
