Residence Inn by Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel

The view was great and the rooms were clean. My only real difficulty was coordinating housekeeping around my work hours. I stayed for a couple of weeks, and the staff, especially the early morning crew, were kind and happy to answer questions. Breakfast had a good range of choices, and I especially liked the quiche and waffles. Even on busy weekends, they kept the food refreshed. The valet service was the best part for me. The lot is cramped, but most of the attendants were quick, helpful, and accommodating, which made parking less stressful. The young man on the 6 a.m. shift, I think his name was Sam, working Thursday 12-18 and Friday 12-19, was AMAZING. I recommend this hotel.

We booked two rooms advertised with ocean views, but one had its living room view obstructed. A white film covered the balcony door completely, so you couldn’t see the ocean without sliding it open. That felt deceptive and wasn’t what we thought we’d booked. They couldn’t move us and offered no room discount, just points. In the second room, the pullout sofa was ragged and broken, so we didn’t use it. When I told the night staff member, he said the dangling broken piece was normal and made no effort to fix it. The hallways looked dirty, and there was dog poop left in one. I was unhappy with the whole experience. We won’t return or recommend this hotel.

We’d stay here again. The hotel is right on the beach, and our balcony and big windows looked out to the ocean from both the bedroom and living area. Having a full kitchen and stovetop was great, and bringing our cat was no trouble. The pet fee seemed reasonable. There’s only valet parking, but if you aren’t taking the car out several times a day, it costs less than most oceanfront parking. The staff were very friendly, and the lobby and hallways were spotless and smelled fresh. We had a great week in a clean, comfortable, pet-friendly place.

The ocean view from the third floor was great, and the beds were really comfortable. The room was very nice for a good price. Parking felt tight, and I can’t imagine how challenging it gets outside the off-season. They said valet would find a spot for the car in a nearby garage or on the street.
