Sun and Sand Resort Oceanfront Suites

The view was nice, but the stay was extremely disappointing. We booked because the listing advertised a two-room suite, expecting that extra space, but it was actually a standard one-room setup. The fold-out couch was broken, with the mattress falling through the frame, so it couldn't be used. The room overall fell short of what we expected. At the front desk, when we asked about changing rooms, we learned the pool was closed for the season, which hadn't been clearly communicated. We then asked to cancel and get a refund. They said it was being processed, but it never arrived. After several follow-up calls, we kept getting the runaround without answers or a resolution. Misleading room details, broken furniture, poor communication, and bad service made this one of our worst hotel stays. I wouldn't recommend it.

The oceanfront location is the one benefit, and we won't return. At check-in, we were told the elevator was broken, and it seemed like it had been that way for a while. The hot water pressure was low. In the room, the TV was on but the remote was missing. There was no shower curtain, and it took a full day to get one. The room was old and badly in need of updates. We stayed only because it was clean. I wouldn't use the couch, which looked very dirty, and the bedroom had no ventilation; the vent looked awful. On our last morning there was no hot water, so we skipped showers.

Our room had a nice view and plenty of space, but I was on the sixth floor and had to haul luggage up 12 flights because the elevator didn't work. There was no hot water in my room, and nobody helped fix it or refunded me for the inconvenience. I called twice for room service, but each time it took hours. There was only one room service worker, and she was busy carrying huge laundry bags up and down the stairs. Finally, when my partner and I tried to close the bedroom door, we got locked inside and had to work the door to get out. It was scary.

The location is perfect, and the oversized chair and brand new sofa bed were nice. But the room looked only half renovated. Cabinets were falling apart and missing knobs, and the sofa bed wasn't attached to the couch. My husband and I put it together ourselves because they wouldn't send anyone until after our stay. There was what looked like pet hair stuck in the floor corners, ants on the walls and window sill, and red rust-like marks around the bedroom window frame. The deadbolt spun freely. We asked for sofa bedding and got only a flat sheet, no pillow or comforter. The bedroom bedding felt sandy, and I was disgusted going to sleep, worried bugs would eat me. Staff kept responding to my questions with reminders about no smoking, even though I don't smoke. That got overbearing.
