Schooner Inn

The Schooner Inn was clean, recently renovated, and in a good location. Staff were friendly, parking was free and convenient, and the value was great. I stayed in Room 522 on Jan 6, 2026, after booking through Priceline for $68.45 plus taxes and fees for one January night. The total came to $80.71. I rate five stars as a newly built luxury suite, so this felt like four stars to me. It’s a little dated, but you can see the owners are making major upgrades, and they show. The Grill in the parking lot isn’t ideal compared with Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head, although I don’t remember many Virginia Beach hotels having a grill at all. I could be wrong. If you’re in your younger 20's or 30's and want an affordable beach location, this could suit you. If you have lots of money and expect five star resort treatment, maybe the northern end of Virginia Beach is a better fit. I’ll definitely return in the summer!!!

You can walk to the boardwalk quickly from this hotel, which sits right on the beach. The rooms are great, parking is easy, and mine had a nice balcony overlooking the ocean plus a cool hot tub. It’s away from the busiest part of the boardwalk but still close enough to reach on foot.

I wasn’t upset with the room, but I still wouldn’t choose this place again. It’s an absolute budget motel, and the crowd staying there felt “different,” though everyone was nice. There were no luggage carts at check-in, and I was told to walk around the floors looking for one. Parking is tight too, with only one space per room. Being able to spread out on the beach and see my car was convenient, since it was only steps from the sand and I kept my beach things in the trunk. I’d called the property, not Priceline, to request a high floor, but nobody noted it. The balconies are very close together. I borrowed a lighter from my neighbor by leaning over, and smoke from the cigarettes he was smoking outside came into my room. The TV only showed static. I’d booked four nights but left within 24 hours.

We came to town for a concert, and the hotel at the end of the strip was a perfect place to rest. It was incredibly clean and quiet, and the staff were the kindest. No frills, in the best way. We’d absolutely stay again.
