EVEN Hotel Waco - University Area by IHG

I was in town for my daughters Baylor Move-in and had an amazing stay at EVEN Hotels Waco - University Area. The guest rooms and public spaces were spotless, fresh and well maintained. Housekeeping clearly takes pride in the details. Staff from the front desk to housekeeping were friendly and very accommodating from the moment I arrived, making me feel right at home. I couldn’t be more impressed with the cleanliness and service. I’d recommend it for a relaxing stay, and I’ll definitely return.

I almost never leave a negative review, but this was hard to let go. We booked two nights. On the first night, I was impressed with the room until I stepped into the shower late at night and found a big wad of women’s hair in the drain and more hair on the shower walls. I was tired and didn’t want to go down to the lobby, so I showered and tried not to touch it. The next morning I told the front desk on my way out and asked them to clean the room and shower. The response was just, “OK I’ll tell them,” with no apology. When I got back late that night, the hair was still there. Housekeeping had made the bed and left fresh towels, so they’d been in the room, but hadn’t touched the shower. I also reported it through the text messages they send to check on you. I didn’t want to walk back to the desk again. If they don’t even remove hair from the shower, it makes me wonder what else isn’t cleaned. I’ve seen similar posts about this. The other person with me also had a room with a trash can full of garbage.

Julia was a highlight of our stay. We arrived a bit before check-in after a long trip, and she found a way to accommodate us. She was personable and gave great local recommendations. Jeremy was kind and helpful too. Our room was clean, in good shape, and the beds were really comfortable. When we had an issue, staff came right away. It was generally quiet, though we could sometimes hear noise in the hallway. My son loved the pool. Amazing stay, and I’d recommend Even Hotel without hesitation.

I’d happily return to EVEN Hotel Waco - University Area. The location worked well, close to Baylor University and downtown Waco, with restaurants and attractions easy to reach. There was a good mix of healthy, tasty food at the on-site restaurant, and the fitness center was top-notch. The modern, welcoming feel and friendly staff made for an easy check-in, and they shared useful local tips. My room was spotless and carefully laid out, with a wellness area for exercise, a calming feel, a comfortable bed and an ergonomic desk that worked well for both relaxing and getting things done. I also liked the bar. It had a good drink selection and a relaxed atmosphere for the evening. The bartender was friendly and made some excellent suggestions. I recommend the hotel if you want a clean, modern place with a focus on wellness.
